Welcome to the 'In Memory' Tribute Page. Family and friends are invited to share their memories and raise donations to support the Epilepsy Foundation.
It is with profound sorrow and enduring love that we remember our beloved son, Kareem. He was a remarkably kind-hearted, loving, and gentle young man whose warmth touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. For years, Kareem fought a courageous, quiet battle against epilepsy—a journey that grew exponentially more difficult after he turned 18.
For Kareem, and so many others like him, the treatments available were a heavy burden of their own. The severe side effects of his medications frequently altered his personality and actions, robbing him of pieces of himself, yet he faced each day with grace.
Amidst these struggles, a beacon of hope and security came in the form of modern technology: a seizure-detection application on his Apple Watch. It gave him independence and gave us peace of mind. Tragically, on the night Kareem suffered his fatal seizure, his watch was off his wrist, sitting on its charger.
Kareem’s absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our hearts, but his legacy can still bring light to others. We refuse to let his struggle be in vain.
We desperately need better answers. We need medications that heal without harming the essence of who a person is. We need advanced, reliable life-saving devices, and we need to ensure they are accessible to every individual fighting this condition.
In honor of Kareem’s beautiful soul and enduring kindness, we humbly ask that you consider making a donation to the Epilepsy Foundation. Your generosity could fund critical research into safer medications and pioneer new technologies that can prevent other families from enduring this devastating loss.
Thank you for keeping Kareem’s memory alive through your compassion and support.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible. A receipt will be emailed to you immediately.
