Our Services are at risk

There are very few organisations, such as the Epilepsy Foundation, supporting people living with epilepsy. Recently, the State Government advised us they would not be renewing funding for our services past 30 June this year.

That means some individuals, families, schools, businesses and organisations may not receive the education, training and support they would need to help someone with epilepsy.

Re: Epilepsy Foundation Victorian Budget Submission 2025 – 2029

I write in support of the Epilepsy Foundation’s recent budget submission and to request your assistance in ensuring this funding is received.

The Epilepsy Foundation delivers essential services tailored to Victorians living with epilepsy including:

  • understanding diagnosis, impacts, risks and management strategies
  • treatment options and impacts (medication side-effects, surgery side-effects)
  • help with developing Epilepsy Management Plans and Emergency Medication Management Plans
  • education and training in understanding and managing epilepsy and how to administer emergency medication
  • health information on a range of topics related to epilepsy and living well with the condition
  • peer support activities.

I/My family have benefited from the services provided by the Epilepsy Foundation and the loss of those services and supports would significantly impact on my/our ability to stay living well with epilepsy.

If you would like to discuss how a lack of funding would be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of people living with epilepsy, please contact me.

Yours sincerely,
