Friday 25th Jul400km in August – Walking for Epilepsy, Walking with Purpose
This August, I’m lacing up my shoes and walking 400km to raise funds for Epilepsy Australia.
Why? Because epilepsy isn’t just a word to us – it’s part of our story.
Our family knows firsthand the fear, uncertainty, and disruption that epilepsy can bring. But we also know something else: the incredible strength that rises up in the face of those challenges. The resilience of loved ones. The quiet courage of showing up every day. And the deep admiration we’ve come to have for the healthcare professionals who support families like ours.
So this walk is personal.
Over the month of August, I’ll be walking an average of 13km every day. Some days will be harder than others, but every step is a reminder of the strength and resilience shown by those living with epilepsy.
This walk isn’t just about distance – it’s about making a difference. The funds raised will go directly toward supporting Epilepsy Australia's vital work, including:
Providing support and information to families and individuals living with epilepsy
Improving access to diagnosis and treatment
Funding research into better therapies and ultimately a cure
Raising awareness to reduce stigma and increase understanding
I plan to walk 400km – that’s roughly 17,000 steps a day – but if I find I can do more, I’ll keep going and aim even higher. Every kilometre is a tribute to the strength of those affected by epilepsy and a step toward better care, greater understanding, and lasting change.
You don’t have to give money to support this cause – cheering me on, walking with me in person, or simply sending good vibes from afar means just as much. Every bit of support counts, and I’ll be keeping you all posted along the journey.
Let’s help others.
Let’s walk this one together.
Thank you – truly – for being part of this.
